Day 1
Arrive Phuntsholing in the afternoon, after clearing Indian immigration in Jaigon. Your guide will meet you at the border and assist you in clearing the Bhutanese immigration. Transfer to hotel. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 2
Drive to Thimphu. (6hrs) and check into your hotel. In the early evening, take a stroll to the Memorial Chorten where you will encounter people from all walks of life circumambulating the huge stupa. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 3
Full program of sightseeing in and around Thimphu. Visit the Buddha point, the Folk Heritage Museum, the Institute for the 13 Traditional Arts (Zorig Chusum), the Institute of Traditional Medicine and the Textile Museum. Today you may opt for the chance to play archery or learn how to make a Bhutanese dish. Finally, visit the impressive Trashicho Dzong. Dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 4
Today enjoy a hiking excursion to Tango, with a drive along country roads followed by a one-hour uphill hike to Tango monastery in the morning. From here you can get stunning views of the valley below and visit the temples.
In the afternoon visit the Chang-gangkha temple, the takin reserve, the viewpoint with thousands of fluttering prayer flags and paper-making and weaving workshops, depending on your interests. Free time for browsing in the town. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 5
Drive to Punakha (3½hrs). Full day sightseeing in Punakha valley. On the way stop at Dochula pass. Then descend to 1,200m and visit ChimiLhakhang. Continue towards Punakha Dzong, which was the old capital of Bhutan. For those who enjoy village walks and hiking, we have two wonderful walking options today.

Day 6
Spend the morning in Punakha with options for a short hike to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten, river rafting or a pleasant drive to visit outlying villages. In the afternoon, drive to Paro (3½ hrs).

Day 7
Visit Paro Ta Dzong Museum and then descend on foot to the impressive Rinpung Dzong and in the afternoon drive towards the ruined fortress Drugyel Dzong and Kichu Lakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan.

Day 8
Hike to Taktsang monastery (the “Tiger’s Nest”). The round-trip takes about 4 hours and includes a visit to the monastery. Free time in Paro town in the afternoon.
