Flying into Bhutan on a short weekend break you can relax and enjoy the towns of Paro and Thimphu as well as the cool, fresh air of the Himalayas.

Transfer directly from Paro airport to Thimphu (1 hour) where you will stay for two nights. Thimphu, the capital city, is situated at 2,400 meters and surrounded by mountains. Visit the impressive Trashichoe Dzong (fortress) and witness the role that Buddhism plays in the daily life of the Bhutanese people.  Enjoy some free time for shopping for arts and crafts or intricately woven textiles and stop off at the post office to see a wide range of Bhutanese stamps.

The last day of your tour is spent in the peaceful Paro valley. Wander through the courtyards of Rinpung Dzong and cross the wooden bridge into the town centre. You will also visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan and we will take you on a two-hour walk through quiet rural villages.

Day 1     Arrive Paro. Transfer to Thimphu for sightseeing (1 hr). Visit the Chang-gangkha temple, Takin   reserve, and Thimphu Dzong (Trashichodzong)

Day 2     Visit the Buddha point, the Folk Heritage Museum, the Institute for the 13 Traditional Arts (Zorig Chusum), and the Textile Museum. Circumambulate the Memorial Chorten with the locals.

Day 3     Drive to Paro. Visit Rinpung Dzong and Kiychu Lhakhang and enjoy a village walk.  Alternatively, you have the option to include a hike to Taktsang temple. (4 hours round-trip).

Day 4     Flight departure from Paro.
